| RHINOPLASTY
(nose surgery) INTRODUCTION
Some men or women
do not consider their nose as something in their disadvantage; instead
for some men and women, who have the nose the way they didn't want ( big,
hooked, long), this kind of operation offers a great many personal satisfactions. The rhinoplasty operation
is the only one which can modify the shape and the size of the nose. Friends and family
members can tell you their opinion about this action , the plastic surgeon
can give you medical advice, but the only one who can decide what's
in your best interest it's you. This type of operation
has been done ever since 1950 ' s; up to now many men and women have taken
advantage from the results of the operation. This kind of operation
is addressed to men and women who are not pleased with their appearance
because of their nose. The nose is the main
part of the body through whose modification the esthetical aspect of the
body is changed. In realizing a pleasant esthetical aspect a very important

The operation is
made in the following way: a small incision is made inside the nostrils;
it avoids the soft parts from the bone and cartilage; the surgical modification
of the bony and…structures , which were responsible with the external

respiratory problems can be resolved( whether there is nasal hindrance).
This kind of operation is called septoplasty. The operation is made
under general anesthesia, because it is safer and it ensures the
operation team a greater comfort. The risks of the anesthesia are diminished
by applying total anesthesia; though they can not be totally eliminated.
Present your plastic surgeon your medical history, in order to establish
the way in which the operation will take place. In some situations the
operation can be done under local anesthesia. The duration of this
operation depends on several factors: the surgical onset, the type of
the nose( before operation), the operation complexity, the patient 's
anatomy, and the type of the anesthesia. Usually the operation
lasts about 1 or 2 hours. One or two days
of hospitalization may be required after most of the rhinoplasty operations.
This is made so that the patient can be held under special medical surveillance.

A few possible complications may occur: bleeding, infection, allergy to anaesthetic, and a possible revision. Follow your plastician doctor advice in order to avoid such complications. POST SURGICAL EFFECTS After the operation
you will have to keep on the nose a metal or plaster splints; the interior
of the nose will be kept fixed in order to maintain in a good position
the soft tissues and the osteocartilaginous structures. Immediately after
the operation the nose will be swollen; the eyes will present echymossis(
bruises). The post operator pain is bearable. You will be able to breathe
only with your mouth. The initial discomfort
will be controlled with antialgic medication. Cold wet compresses
will be applied on the eyes within the first 48 hours after the operation. You should avoid catching
cold. The best time for this kind of operation is during spring and autumn. The threads will be removed in 7 - 10 days after the operation. The splints will be removed in 14 days. The resulting scars
are small and are not, esthetically speaking, a problem. In case of predisposition
to hypertrophic and keloids scars, discuss this problem with your plastic
surgeon. You can came back
to your normal activity in 2 or 3 days. The pains can be persistent,
for which reason analgesics are recommended. The patient can usually
go back to his / her normal and daily activity in one or two weeks, depending
on the operation evolution and the kind of work the patient undertakes.
The plastic surgeon will recommend the best time to start working again. The complete healing
of your nose is done in a few months time. Rhinoplasty produces
the nose beautification as much as possible, in order to restore a natural
and esthetical balance of the face. This will make you more confidant
in yourself, because the new look is lovely to the eye. The emotional and psychological benefits of the operation are a greater confidence in yourself , a better image of your body and a greater personal satisfaction.
