FACIAL IMPLANTS
(cheeks, chin)

INTRODUCTION

Facial implants is not a medical decision, but a personal one. The way you see yourself defines you and integrates you in society.

Face, more than any other part of the body is the one that defines you. Your face helps you communicate and influence another persons; it is a way of recognition. Face consists of several regions, among which there is a balance which creates your own figure.

When a part of your body is bigger or smaller, than the face has an esthetic imbalance. Facial contouring by using implants can lead to a more attractive and harmonious equilibrate face.

For example the plastic surgeon can recountour your cheekbones, or resizes your chin.

This kind of operation is the only one, which can remodellate and recontour some unaesthetic unequilibrated aspects of your physiognomy.

Plastic surgeon can give you medical advice, but the only one who can decide what's in your best interest it's you.

This kind of operation has been done ever since 1950; many men and women have taken advantage from this operation.

The operation is addressed to men and women who are unhappy with their face. When this kind of operation is performed with older persons, some other intermediate interventions can be associated with it: facial and forehead lifting, blefaroplasty, wrinkle treatment.

A person can ask for this kind of operation when he or / she considers himself ready and is able to take advantage by it.
If you are unhappy with your look, this kind of operation offers you new possibilities to have a new look.

SURGICAL INTERVENTION

The purpose of this operation is that of modifying the shape and some parts of your face with the purpose of realizing a non-esthetic equilibrium between all the facial structures.

Medical intervention for facial implants introduction is done through mouth; for this reason avoid to have infections… if you are a smoker, cease smoking until healing in order to reduce the risk for infection.

CHIN IMPLANT

Chin implant is done through a small incision in the oral cavity, at the lower lip, or an external incision in the lower part of the chin. The soft tissues are lifted from the chin bone; the implant is introduced in the space formed that way. The incision is closed and a compress is applied.

CHEEK IMPLANT

Cheek implant is done through small incisions according to the tasks required.

If facial lifting is done in the same time, then the cheek implant is introduced through these incisions. If you do only this operation, the implant is introduced through an incision in the mouth, at the upper lip or through an incision through the lower lip. The soft tissues are removed off the bone and the implant is inserted in the desired position.

The operation is done under general anesthesia because it is safer and ensures the operating team a grater risk. The risks of the anesthesia are diminished, by administrating general anesthesia, but they can not be completely eliminated. Present your plastic surgeon with your medical history, in order to follow the correct procedure. In certain situations the operation can be done under local anesthesia.

The necessary time for a facial implant depends on several factors including the complexity of the operation, the anatomy of the patient, the type of the anesthesia.

The time for the operation is 1 to 2 hours.

Most of the cheek implants take 1 or 2 days of hospitalization, in order to keep the patient under medical surveillance
